Hello :) This is the Incheon Airport Blog.
August was another scorching month—let’s take a look at what happened at Incheon Airport.
Real-Time Estimated Departure Processing Time Now Available at Terminal 1

Passengers can now check the real-time “Estimated Departure Processing Time” for each checkpoint on the upper LED boards at Terminal 1. 🕑
The estimates are generated through big data sensors installed inside the airport, which analyze actual passenger flow in real time and calculate the time required for the entire departure process. This allows travelers to choose less congested checkpoints.

The service will be expanded to Terminal 2 in the future. We hope this helps make your departure smoother and more convenient!
Launch of New Cargo Airline “Air Zeta”

On August 1, Air Zeta, a newly established cargo airline created through the integration of Air Incheon and Asiana Airlines’ cargo division, began its first flights from Incheon Airport.
Air Zeta operates not only short-haul routes to China and Vietnam, but also medium- and long-haul routes to Europe and North America previously operated by Asiana Airlines. This gives it a strong competitive edge in cargo networks. ✈️
This launch further strengthens Incheon Airport’s competitiveness in air cargo and supports its role as a global air logistics hub.
Comprehensive Trial Run Ahead of Runway 2 Reopening

In July, Runway 2 at Incheon Airport completed a major repaving and system upgrade project.
On August 5, a comprehensive trial operation was conducted to inspect all safety elements required for flight operations on the runway.
Runway 2 will officially reopen at the end of September, making it the first time since the airport’s opening in 2001 that all four runways can be operated simultaneously.
This will increase annual capacity from 500,000 to 600,000 flights, greatly improving passenger convenience. 😁
Special Exhibition: Kiaf at Incheon Airport 🎉

From August 25 to September 17, the “2025 Kiaf Special Exhibition at Incheon Airport” will be held in the Millennium Hall on the 1st floor of Terminal 1.
Ten leading Korean galleries will participate, presenting over 50 works spanning painting, sculpture, and photography.
The exhibition is also part of the Incheon Airport Culture & Arts Month (Sept. 1–30) and will feature immersive programs such as docent-led art tours and sound walk programs 🎶. Don’t miss it before your flight! 👀
Runway Emergency Repair Drill as Part of Ulchi Exercise

On August 20, Incheon Airport conducted a Runway Emergency Repair Drill as part of the 2025 Ulchi Exercise* (*a national emergency preparedness drill simulating wartime and crisis situations).
The scenario assumed that drones and missiles had damaged the runway—creating a crater 12 meters wide and 3 meters deep—and the drill was conducted in a fully realistic setting.
Through this exercise, the airport was able to assess its ability to maintain operations during a wartime situation. Incheon Airport will continue holding such realistic drills to ensure safe and reliable services.
Joint Workshop on Bird Strike Prevention with Korea Airports Corporation

On August 12, Incheon Airport held a joint workshop with Korea Airports Corporation to strengthen aviation safety and prevent bird strikes.
The workshop focused on preparations for September–October, the peak season for bird strikes, reviewing the latest prevention systems at each airport.
For winter months, when larger birds such as ducks and geese pose risks, Incheon Airport also shared countermeasures such as: △ Removing food sources for migratory birds near the airport, △ Installing overhead wires above drainage channels to deter birds.
In addition, Incheon Airport actively seeks advice from ornithologists and feedback from relevant agencies to identify potential risks in advance, and remains committed to strengthening aviation safety.
