Baggage Handling Procedure
Departure Baggage
For customers departing from Incheon Airport, checked baggage follows the process below before being loaded onto the aircraft.
- 1Inserted into the conveyor using check-in counters or smart check-in devices.
- 2Scanned for dangerous items through screening equipment for aviation safety.
- 3If no dangerous items are found, the baggage is transported to the pre-set destination loading area according to the optimal route.
- 4Arrives at the departure baggage loading area.
- 5Ground handling staff load the baggage into ULDs (Unit Load Devices) and then onto the aircraft.

- Incheon Airport’s Baggage Handling Facility automatically sorts baggage using the barcode information attached to the baggage tag.
- If an old barcode is attached, your baggage may be sent to a different destination, so please be sure to remove the baggage tag from your previous trip.

Arrival Baggage
The checked baggage of passengers arriving at Incheon Airport follows the process below before reaching the baggage claim area.
- 1Ground handling staff unloads the ULD (Unit Load Device - aircraft loading container) and places the baggage onto the arrival baggage input line.
- 2The baggage undergoes customs inspection and screening for prohibited items (such as drugs) using X-ray machines and drug-sniffing dogs.
- 3After the inspection is complete, the baggage is transported along the conveyor line to the arrival baggage claim area.
